Freelance Project - Personal Branding 'Funky Letters'

The end of the last year was the best year of my life. After a lot of struggle I managed to get a work placement job for a BIG global advertising agency in London. (Due to privacy reasons I cannot mention the name of the agency). I seem to have impressed the company initially, because later on they took me on for a freelance project.

The project brief was to give every individual in the department a separate identity. The had already done corporate photo shoots and they had their bios typed out. I am using the first name initial and designing within it things that make them different from other individuals. That include their achievements, their hobbies, things that they are passionate about, their likes etc.

Every initial designed is different (take a closer look) and after a lot of consideration, the project is called 'Funky Letters'.

Black and White

Sometimes the best form of art is the most simple one. I had forgotten how good it felt to simply just draw, I used to do a lot of drawing before, but then technology and everything with it hit me. I was trying so hard to fit in the digital world that I left my basic drawing skills in a corner. Until, very recently I found all my black pens and I cant seem to stop, I have so many ideas and so little time. Here is some basics pen and ink drawings that inspired me.

to keep the artist in me alive..

For the past couple of years, in my spare time I like to paint. I was never taught how to oil paint, but I enjoy experimenting. I have painted on canvas' as well as a plank of wood.

In my opinion some of the best art is always experimental. While I was printmaking in school I worked with Lithograph as well as silk screen. I at times wish I could continue printmaking, if only I could make my spare room into a printing studio, and I wish I win the lottery to buy the printing press.

Networking Not working

I like playing with words that have a pun in them. NETWORKING and NOT WORKING were the two words that were going on in my mind while I was at a networking event that was not working for me. As a designer I got stuck between bankers and accountants who had no idea what goes behind Graphic Design.
I thought that these two words together creates an interesting illusion and I had to design a poster for such smart words. I enjoyed making this poster and I plan on making more TYPE based posters with such overlapping alphabets.

Magnify - Logo Design Competition

Logo Design for a magazine called "Magnify". The brief was to design a fun yet a sophisticated logo aimed for young women aged 20-28. The logo that they did have before was bulky, but then the company wanted the logo to have a feel of 'Bazaar' and 'Vogue'.
Although it is a new magazine with the right Logo the company wanted to aim more readers. I have submitted my entry - now lets see what happens.

UKIFF

I am a voluntary Graphic Designer for a film festival called UKIFF - UK Iranian Film Festival. This event will be taking place in London from September 19th - 26th. The concept for this film festival is to honor Iranian Films that are held annually across the globe - and now it has created a platform in the UK.

UK Iranian Film Festival (UKIFF) is a non-political, film-focused organization that aims to provide a stimulating and inspiring alternative to the film experience, alongside praising and promoting the art of film making.

The photography is the courtesy of Tilo Driessen - The image is a part of the Iranian architecture and culture, as they are known for their arches.I started off with the stationary design, then I made their poster and then from there on a postcards which is the main source of advertising and giving exposure to the festival.
